Roll the DICE!!!

I made 2 large styrofoam dice to use for Singing Time. There are some fun ways to use them:

1. MYSTERY SONG! Divide your Primary into 2 teams. Using one dice, call up a reverent child to come roll the dice. The pianist will have 6 songs corresponding with the number, and after playing the song, the child can try to guess or sing part of the song to win a point for his/her team.
2. ARTICLES of FAITH CHALLENGE:In order to provide the probability of rolling "13," place a sticker on ONE side of "#6." Have fun learning and singing the Articles of Faith songs!

Primary Singing Time Olympics!

The Primary Olympics are a great way to test and reward the children who worked so hard to learn all the songs for the Children's Sacrament Meeting Presentation.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

What you see above:

1. Olympic torch. This is a relay which you "pass the torch" while a song is playing. When the pianist stops, the child holding the torch comes up to the board

2. The Board: I pasted Olympic rings (I used a salad plate for a circle stencil) on a piece of foam board. I then taped the songs the children learned for the year on the board. For little children who can't read, I put colored "smiley" sticker on each song. That way they can choose a certain song by pointing to the "smiley" sticker they like best :O)

3. The child who brings the torch up to the board, then chooses the song they want the Primary to "medal" for!

4. GOLD*SILVER*BRONZE: I made 3 sets of 3" circles glued to popsicle sticks. These are given
to up to 3 " judges. The children then sing the song the child chose to challenge. Depending on the judges score, I will tape a small 1 1/2" metallic circle on the song based on their score. I do offer the children a chance to "GO FOR THE GOLD" if they received a bronze or silver score the first time around. The kids are usually excited to sing it better!

5. This can be done over 2 weeks, especially if this is a challenge/review of all the songs for the year.

As a reward, each child gets a "GOLD" medal for their great work, practice, and effort!

Have FUN!!!

Matching Game!

Kids have SOOO much fun with this! To play the game, you can divide your Primary: Boys vs. Girls or Left side vs. Right side etc...This is also fun for Sharing Time lessons

RULES:
1. no shouting out answers.
2. REVERENCE! This is a "TEAM" game. If the one up at the board doesn't know the answer and someone on the team does, the team member can raise their hand and the player can pick that person to advise the best possible match using a soft voice. If the team member SHOUTS the answer out, the turn will be given to the opposing team...who in many cases will make the match. It's a tough lesson in reverence, but it is a rule quickly learnt.

How this board was made: This is a tri-fold display board with laminated mix n' match scrapbook paper attached to the board with long brads.

2 matching phrases from a song are taped on the reverse side of the scrapbook paper.

For example under the fall leaves paper, I'll put "I am a child of God" and then the strawberry paper I'll tape "And He has sent me here"

When a MATCH is MADE, the Primary children sing the song!

This is great fun and a great way to challenge your Primary kids knowledge of the song lyrics. For Jr. Primary, I sing or their team/teachers SING the phrases or clues out loud.

Have FUN!!!
